WHAT IS EUROPEAN STI SCREENING WEEK?
Every year, European Testing Week provides an opportunity to discuss HIV, other sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and hepatitis. Its goal is to encourage testing and enable everyone to know their status. It is followed on December 1 by World AIDS Day.
Even if you use condoms and don't have any symptoms, you may have an STI without knowing it. Getting tested is the only way to find out and, if necessary, receive appropriate treatment.
From November 23 to 30, many organizations and groups are holding events to raise awareness about sexual health and make it easier to get tested. Some offer free, anonymous, and/or walk-in testing. Other events are also being held after this week, in observance of December 1.
Check out all the events happening near you below, and take this opportunity to assess your sexual health!
You can also request a screening at any time of the year from your primary care physician, at a family planning center, or at a center that specializes in HIV and STIs.
